Requirements

Requirements describe unfulfilled needs within a business. Requirements are identified in advance of procurement and can be used as part of process to assess the suitability of a proposed solution. Requirement can be difficult to capture accurately.

A mistake when capturing a requirement is to record the steps in the current implementation of a process as requirements. A process may contain steps created by the use of a particular medium, as it often the case in paper-based systems.
