Cost of Absence

An hr department will calculate the cost of absence for individuals and the company overall.

Cost of absence is calculated against an employee’s hourly rate and the number of hours they have not attended work. Cost of absence is not (necessarily) related to the rate of absence as higher earners can significantly impact costs. An absence management process may use this to design strategies and measure performance.
